How to add page numbers to a PDF

    1. Choose a PDF.
    2. Pick the position, format, size and first number. Optionally skip the cover page.
    3. Download the numbered PDF.

    Good to know

Numbers are drawn as real text in Helvetica, so they print crisply and can be searched. Existing page content is not touched.

    Questions

    Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF1 runs the whole job inside your browser tab with JavaScript and WebAssembly. The page has no upload endpoint, and its security policy blocks connections to other servers, so the file stays on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Can I start numbering at a number other than 1?

Yes. Set “First number” to any value, such as 5 if this file continues another document.

Can I skip the cover page?

Yes. Tick “Don’t number the first page”. Numbering then starts on page 2, using the first number you set.
