mPDF and mpdf1.com
If you followed an old link to this address, you were probably looking for mPDF, the PHP library that turns HTML into PDF. For several years this domain hosted its home page, online manual and support forum. The project has moved on, and so has the domain.
Where mPDF lives now
- Source code and releases: the mpdf/mpdf repository on GitHub.
- Installation: via Composer, as the mpdf/mpdf package. Our getting mPDF page walks through it.
- Official documentation: mpdf.github.io.
PDF1 is not part of the mPDF project and is not run by its developers. We don’t host mPDF’s files or its old manual.
A short history
mPDF began in the mid-2000s as an extension of two earlier PHP projects, FPDF and HTML2FPDF. Its author needed to output PDF files on the fly from a website in several languages, so mPDF added what those projects lacked: UTF-8 text, right-to-left and Asian scripts, much broader CSS support, tables, headers and footers.
Through the late 2000s and early 2010s the library was distributed from this domain as ZIP files, with a page-by-page online manual and a busy community forum. That is why thousands of forum answers, plugin pages and tutorials still link here, often to /mpdf/index.php or to individual manual topics.
Around 2016 development moved to GitHub, where a group of maintainers modernised the code. Version 7 brought Composer installation, namespaces and a single configuration array, and version 8 continues that line today. The old site was closed, and in time the domain lapsed.
What this site is now
PDF1 is a free collection of PDF tools that run entirely in your browser, so merging, splitting, compressing, signing and protecting PDFs never involves uploading them. Because so many developers still arrive here looking for mPDF, we also write independent, current guides to it:
- mPDF guidesFrom Composer install to invoices, fonts and troubleshooting.
- Topic indexFind the guide for any mPDF function or setting.
- Limitations and workaroundsWhat mPDF can’t do, and what to do instead.
- HTML-to-PDF examplesTemplates that render in mPDF and in your browser.
Old links, new homes
Old addresses on this domain lead to the closest page we have. Download links point to getting mPDF, manual topics point to the guide covering the same feature, and forum threads point to the troubleshooting guide.
