    Good to know

This tool does not guess or crack passwords. It decrypts a file with the password you provide, so it is for your own documents, such as bank statements, that you want to keep without a password.

    Questions

    Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF1 runs the whole job inside your browser tab with JavaScript and WebAssembly. The page has no upload endpoint, and its security policy blocks connections to other servers, so the file stays on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

I don’t know the password. Can you remove it?

No. Without the password the contents cannot be decrypted, and trying to break the protection on documents that aren’t yours may be illegal.

Why would I remove a password?

Many tools, including merging and compressing, need an unlocked file. It also saves typing the password every time you open your own records.
