How to pDF page counter
- Add one or more PDF files, or drop a whole selection at once.
- Read each file’s page count, paper size and the total.
- Download the table as a CSV for a spreadsheet, if you need it.
Good to know
Counting reads only each file’s page list, so it is fast even for large documents. Password-protected PDFs can be counted too, because the page list isn’t encrypted.
Paper sizes are named when they match a standard size such as A4 or US Letter, and shown in millimetres otherwise. Mixed sizes in one file are listed with a count of each.
Who counts pages?
- Print shops and copy centres quoting a job priced per page or per sheet.
- Translators and typists who charge per page, and their clients checking an invoice.
- Legal and admin teams checking that a bundle of exhibits or a filing is within a page limit.
- Anyone scanning who wants to make sure no pages were skipped or doubled.
Questions
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. PDF1 runs the whole job inside your browser tab with JavaScript and WebAssembly. The page has no upload endpoint, and its security policy blocks connections to other servers, so the file stays on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.
Is there a limit on the number of files?
No fixed limit. Hundreds of files are fine on a computer; each one is read and released in turn.
Does it count blank pages?
Yes. Every page in the file counts, whether it has content or not.
Can it count words?
Not yet. To get the text out of a PDF, use PDF to text and paste it into a word counter.
