How to convert WebP to PDF

    1. Add one or more WebP images (JPG and PNG work too).
    2. Put them in order and choose page size, orientation and margin.
    3. Download the PDF, with one image per page.

    Good to know

WebP is the image format Google designed for the web, and most sites now serve their pictures as WebP. PDF can’t hold WebP data directly, so each image is decoded by your browser and stored losslessly as PNG inside the PDF. Nothing is lost in the conversion, though a PNG is often larger than the WebP it came from.

Animated WebP files are converted using their first frame. Transparent areas become white, like paper.

    Where WebP files come from

When you right-click and save an image in Chrome, Edge or Firefox, you often get a .webp file even if the page looked like it showed a JPG. Screenshots from some Android phones and exports from design tools are WebP too. Older versions of Word, Photoshop and many upload forms don’t accept WebP, while every system accepts a PDF.

    Making the PDF smaller

If the finished PDF is too big to email, run it through Compress PDF and choose Balanced, which re-encodes the images as compact JPEGs. For a size limit, use compress to 1 MB.

    Questions

    Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. PDF1 runs the whole job inside your browser tab with JavaScript and WebAssembly. The page has no upload endpoint, and its security policy blocks connections to other servers, so the file stays on your device. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Can I mix WebP, JPG and PNG in one PDF?

Yes. Add them all, put them in order, and they become one PDF with a page each.

    Is the image quality reduced?

No. WebP images are stored losslessly as PNG, and JPG files are copied as they are.

Can I convert a PDF back to images?

Yes, with PDF to JPG, which saves each page as a JPG or PNG.
